Description: 2nd February dawned, sunny and bright and the Provincial House and its surroundings, tastefully decorated, wore an air of festivity. Indeed it was a very happy and special day for all the CJS as most of us recalled the day of our Commitment to the Lord on this day of Religious Consecration. Besides after a gap of few barren years we were there to witness another day of commitment. Sisters from all our Houses and a few from Delhi Province had gathered in SMC to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of our Sisters, Alphonsa and Marietta, and the First profession of SrsPoonam, Maria Goretti, Alma and Delna. The presence of their parents and relatives added to the joy of the Brides. Holy Mass began at 11:00 a.m. The entrance hymn, ‘aayehe milkar ham darpe There’ soulfully sung by the choir, announced the arrival of the brides who entered the chapel, along with their dear ones, Formators, the Provincial and other sisters. The Chief celebrant of the day was the Vicar General of the Diocese, Fr. Louis Mascarenhas who was joined by a number of other priests, friends and relatives of the brides. Sr. Janet gave the introduction to the Mass, explaining the significance of the step the young sisters were taking and the important mile stone the Jubilarians had reached in their long life of commitment. The presence of Sr. Tarsicia who as batch mates of the two jubilarians, was also celebrating her Diamond Jubilee and Sr. Nirmala, a Golden Jubilarian, both from Delhi Province added to our joy. Sr. Benita, the M.C. explained each step of the procedure. The Holy Mass, meaningfully and devoutly celebrated and the beautiful hymns, sung melodiously by the choir made the celebration all the more solemn and memorable. Fr. Linto’s voice added depth and beauty to the singing. The homely, preached by Fr. Louis, was indeed very meaningful and must have made a deep impact on the young hearts of our Brides. After the homely the Provincial examined the four Novices, asking them a series of questions regarding their determination and understanding of the step they were taking. Finally, after doxology the four Novices stepped forward and in their young, clear voices, pronounced their Vows, thus declaring, in the presence of their dear ones and the others, their determination to surrender their lives in the service of God and His people. They were followed by the Jubilarians who too renewed their Vows, promising to live the remaining years of their lives in the vineyard of the Lord. After the Holy Communion, Sr. Delna, the youngest of the Brides, gave the Vote of thanks, expressing the gratitude and Joy felt in their hearts. After Mass and photo session all moved downstairs to the open stage where Sr.Teresina welcomed all to the nuptial meal and the bridal cake was cut in the midst of the Congratulatory song by the choir. Thus this solemn day ended with a celebratory meal after which all departed for their respective destinations.
