11th July 2009 was a day of rejoicing for all the members of the Allahabad Province as the long awaited dream of a new house for the Asha Niketan Community in Varanasi came true on this date. On 11th morning in the presence of a number of priests, both diocesan and IMS, sisters from the neighbouring communities, C.J. Sisters from the different houses of Allahabad and Sr. Rinalda from Falna (Delhi Province) and a few invited guests, his Lordship, Rt. Rev. Raphy Manjali, Bishop of Varanasi blessed the new house. The celebration began with Sr. Sumita recalling the history of Asha Niketan community, its mission of educating the mentally challenged children and the aim of relocation the school and community from Bhojuvir to Bhawanipur. Sister also explained the importance of 2009 to the CJs as it is the 400th Jubilee year of the Congregation.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was the central part of the ceremony. The choir led by Sr. Martha added charm and grace to the occasion. At the end of the mass once again all gathered in the portico and Sr. Coletta proposed vote of thanks to all present and all who contributed concretely to the construction of the building. She also expressed her gratitude to the members of her own community who helped this endeavour to bear fruit.
After all the ceremonies a fellowship meal was served which was enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to all who contributed to the building of the house and we invoke God’s blessings on the house and its inmates as well as on our mission there.
