Description:
For the occasion, two-day celebratory events were held on 23rd and 24th Nov.
A good number of Priests, Sisters, benefactors, teachers and students joined the CJ Sisters in a thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration officiated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi on 23rd evening.
Twenty-five years ago the then Provincial Superior, Sr. Celine took a daring step in sending the pioneers – Srs. Fernanda, Usha and Jean Mary- to this remote, roadless village of Kanudihthat had no running water or electricity. Over the years the Sisters have rendered valuable services in this village in the field of education, social work, village apostolate, health and medical care.
The Sisters acknowledge their gratitude to IMS Fathers who invited them and provided the first house in Kanudhi. Thereafter the Provincial Superiors of CJ-Sr. Isabel, Sr. Celine, Sr. Salesia, Sr. Mariette, Sr. Sumita and Sr. Roshnicontinued to nurture this mission. Today the face of the village has changed. The original small school building has given place to a spacious well-equipped school (MahathmaGandhiAdarsh High School), with a computer lab, science lab and a number of other amenities. Thanks to the generosity of – Fr. Elmar, SMC Allahabad, SMC Kanpur etc.
A heart-warming cultural show (Shalom Fest) put up by the school on the 24th evening was excellent. A message of peace and unity ran like a golden thread through all the festivities. Congratulations to the organising committee-Sisters, teachers, students and co-workers.
May Venerable Mother Mary Ward who had both –education and love of the poor-so much at heart continue to bless the work at Kanudhi and may God will grant every grace to render fruitful service in the future.
