Description:
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings”.
The long awaited event in the history of CJ Sagar community took place on 13th April 2021 when the Bishop, Mar. James Athikalam ceremoniously blessed the new Convent building of St. Mary’s Convent, Deori, Sagar. Sr. Josita, the Animator of the community, in her introduction and formal welcoming expressed sentiments of gratitude to God, to the Superior General, Sr. Jane Livesey and her team, to Sr. Roshni, the Provincial Superior and her team and all the C.J. members who could not be physically present on the occasion due to Covid 19 pandemic lockdown yet were very much a part of the beginning, growth and graced history of this mission and the completion of this Convent. The builders were also remembered with gratitude for their committed service. At 4.00 p m. after an introductory prayer, the Bishop cut the Ribbon. Chanting hymns and prayers we went around the house with the Bishop, Fr. Joseph Arrikkat, the Parish Priest and Fr. Benny who blessed every nook and corner of the Convent building.
Five priests, three S.J Sisters, the school staff and Mr. Babu, the contractor joined the CJ community of Sr. Josita, Sr. Sharon, Sr. Melanie and Sr. Benita in the thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration that followed. The melodious singing of the choir consisting of Fr. Patrick, Sr. Josita, Sr. Melanie and the teachers made the ceremony more solemn. During the homily the Bishop expressed his gratitude for CJ presence in Sagar diocese and highlighted the importance of the apostolate of presence more than that of doing. People seeing us are reminded of their personal and common vocation to holiness. After the homily the Bishop consecrated the Altar, the Tabernacle and blessed the Chapel. It was indeed a grace filled occasion. After the Eucharistic celebration there was a short felicitation programme which included cutting the cake by the Bishop and the C.J. Sisters and distribution of token gifts of gratitude to the Contractor and his team. The vote of thanks by Sr. Josita was followed by a delicious meal for all. The Deori community is ever grateful to both the General and the Provincial Leadership for materializing a beautiful, spacious residence for the Sisters as well as for the resident teachers.
