Description:
A 3-Day rendezvous of ten CJ(Congregation of Jesus) schools commenced on 17th August, 2018 at St. Mary’s Convent Inter College, Allahabad. This was an attempt made to bring the schools under one umbrella, to provide a common platform to foster a spirit of healthy competition and the enhancement of mutual growth and sensitivity.
DAY 1: 17th August (Friday)
A total of ten participants led by one teacher from each of the nine participating schools, arrived at St.Mary’s Convent Inter College, 32 Thornhill Road, Allahabad. The participating Schools were SMC Kanpur, SMC Lucknow, Mary Ward School Lucknow, Asha Deep Allahabad, Darshana Allahabad, Mahatma Gandhi AdarshVidyalayKanudih, and AshaNiketan Varanasi.
In the auditorium at 7 pm, the “ Ice Breaking Session was conducted, followed by a game in groups which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. After dinner at 8 pm. , the day ended on a warm note.
DAY 2: 18th August (Saturday)
Each day began with a yoga meditation session from 7:15 am to 8:00 am.
The opening ceremony commenced at 9:00 am with the march past of the students, carrying the portrait of Venerable Mother Mary Ward, led by the respective college/school captains along with the NCC students from the grotto to the auditorium. The program started with the welcome address by Sr. Marion CJ, the Education Co-ordinator of CJ Schools who brought out the significance of the CJ Meet. She extended a hearty welcome to all.
The ceremonial lamp was lit by, Sr. Marion, the Provincial Superior Sr. Roshni, the Manager Sr. Rajini, the Principal Sr. Jyoti and the head girl of SMC Kanpur. In her address to this august gathering, the Provincial Superior Sr. Roshni CJ expressed her feelings of joy and gratitude at the revival of the tradition of bringing the schools together after a lapse of 11 years.
The prayer dance presented by the students of the training college and the opening item by them-- a vibrant dramatization of the illustrious life of Mary Ward, the Prophet of Hope were well appreciated. A dance drama based on the Gloria Vision presented by SMC 32, Allahabad was praiseworthy. Darshana School, Mahatma Gandhi AdarshVidyalay and AshaNiketan Schools too had their well prepared items. The next was a declamation on the theme “ The Vision of the Just Soul”. The speeches of the participants were impressive and effective enough to arouse the audience to bring about positive changes in the world.
A game called Adman in which they had to present advertisements of certain commodities in a creative manner was a very lively activity. Inspirational songs sung by the music teacher Mr. Ashit Roy along with the students of SMC Allahabad added to the fun and frolic of the day.
After lunch at 1:00 pm. The dance drama by the rest of the schools continued. Each performance was commendable. A lively quiz on Mary Ward was conducted and the members of the group Rose was adjudged winners. A collage making competition on the theme “ The virtues of Mary Ward“ was held after tea break. Another session of mingling and interaction was organized when once again the students got into their groups and presented various cultural items. A sumptuous dinner was served at 8:00 pm.
DAY 3: 19th August (Sunday)
The Friends of Mary Ward, a group formed by the teachers of SMC Allahabad presented a fabulous show on the conservation of the environment. The sharing of experiences and the expression of gratitude by the students and team leaders were the most important part of this literary and cultural extravaganza.
The students were presented with certificates as well as bags as mementoes. After a short break, the Grand Finale presented by SMC Allahabad, was a mesmerizing combination of a tableau and dance based on the theme: Heal the World with Love, Justice and Peace.
The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. VivekTiwari, a teacher of the college section. The SMC Allahabad led the marching out from the auditorium marking the end of the event. Thus the Inter CJ Meet came to a close, establishing another milestone in the glorious history of SMC Allahabad. It has indeed been a greatly edifying and enriching experience which shall remain etched in each one’s heart for many years to come.
